Field hockey like many team sports has a considerable amount of injuries, in particular to the lower limbs, head/face and upper limb (1). This can be attributed to the high-speed, high-fatigue demands that hockey presents.
The most prevalent injuries are ankle sprains, head/facial injuries and hand fractures (1). In addition to this there is a large portion of the field hockey community that experience back pain, in particular lower back pain (1).
