Safety Protection Recommendations:
The following safety recommendations have been produced with the aim of reducing and minimising the effect of contact injuries, such as contusions/hematomas, and abrasions:
- Goalkeepers must wear helmets and other protective gear during training.
- Use well-fitted shin guards and mouthguards during training and games.
- Mouthguards should be fitted and of good quality to maximise player comfort and compliance.
- Mouthguard use should be encouraged at an early age so that it becomes a habit.
- Mouthguards should be replaced if damaged
- Protective gloves should be worn to prevent hand and finger injuries in hockey.
- Protective eyewear encouraged to be worn to prevent and minimise eye-related injuries (3-7)
